Is Delhi University PG under CUET?

NEW DELHI: Only scores obtained in the Common University Entrance Test-PG ( CUET-PG ) will be considered for admissions to post-graduate courses, Delhi University said on Wednesday in a notification. This is the first time that post-graduate admissions to DU will be based on CUET-PG.

  • In the notification, the university said that all candidates “must appear in the CUET-PG to be conducted by the National Testing Agency.
  • Only the scores obtained in CUET-PG will be considered for admissions to the academic year 2023-24.” The university added before appearing for CUET-PG, “candidates must ensure that they fulfil the program-specific eligibility”.

For this, the university requested candidates to check “the university’s PG bulletin for information on selecting CUET test papers as per the requirements of the specific programmes”. While aspirants appearing for the qualifying degree examination will be eligible to appear for CUET-PG, they are required to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria at the time of admission to the varsity, the notification said.

The university will also implement the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) for admissions to post-graduate courses, a system similar to the one followed for undergraduate programmes. Last year, the CSAS was implemented for the first time for undergraduate admissions. Senior university officials clarified that while 50% of the seats will be for DU graduates like earlier, admissions will only be based on CUET scores.

“There will be two categories of admissions. Those from DU will still be able to apply under the 50% seats reserved for DU graduates (but) everyone has to appear for CUET. They will not be able to seek admissions only on the basis of their graduation marks like earlier years,” the official said.
