Who is the squad of India ODI against Australia 2023?
India’s squad for the ODI series: Rohit Sharma (c), Yuzvendra Chahal, Ishan Kishan, Ravindra Jadeja, Virat Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Shami, Mohammad Siraj, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur, Umran Malik, Jaydev Unadkat, Washington Sundar, Suryakumar Yadav.
Why is Hardik Pandya not playing Test?
Hardik Pandya established himself as one of India’s key players in white-ball cricket, but he hasn’t been able to reach 1983 WC winner Kapil Dev’s level who played 131 Tests in his career. But why Hardik Pandya, one of the best all-rounders of this generation, doesn’t play Test cricket anymore. Hardik Pandya made his India debut in 2016 and enjoyed immense success in ODIs and T20Is. He made his Test debut in 2017 vs Sri Lanka and from here issues began. Hardik Pandya, less than a year after making his Test debut, played his last Test match against England. In an interview with Cricbuzz, Pandya had said his back issues is one of the reasons behind him not playing Test cricket. The problem surfaced during the Asia Cup in September 2018. Pandya had a back surgery in 2019 due to lower back problems after which he decided to prioritize playing ODIs and T20Is as he knew how important his role is in white-ball formats. Considering the trouble Hardik Pandya has gone through due to past back issues, fans shouldn’t expect him to feature in Tests anytime soon.
Why was Travis Head dropped?
Australian cricket legend Matthew Hayden believes the selectors have a lot to answer for after Travis Head’s blistering knock steered the visitors home against India in the third Test. Head was omitted from the first Test in favour of Matt Renshaw, with the former’s previous struggles on the subcontinent seen as the main reasoning for the decision despite his stunning form in the Australian summer. Watch Australia’s Tour of India. Every Test & ODI live & ad-break free during play on Kayo. New to Kayo? Start your free trial now > It was a call Head himself “didn’t expect” but had to accept after “robust” conversations with the selectors. After Renshaw battled in the first Test, Head was immediately drafted back in for the second Test where he scored 12 in the first innings in the middle order. Head was then thrust into an opening role alongside Usman Khawaja due to David Warner suffering a concussion, and went on to top score for the Aussies with 43 off 46. Warner then flew home due to another injury, allowing Head to claim the opening role all for his own in the third Test. Although he mustered just nine runs in the first innings, he blasted a matchwinning 49 not out off 53 where he was forced to bide his time before becoming his explosive self with the bat in hand. After witnessing Head’s smashing spell out in the middle, Hayden was left puzzled how the selectors could have ever thought to drop him. Who cares what happens a few years ago, he was in form! “Needed to play that (first) Test. And now he is showing exactly why you pick him. “He has got wonderful intent to score, his strike rate is enormous. “Gets that momentum and that belief in the batting changeroom. He is a mover and a shaker.” Several others in the cricket community shared Hayden’s view. Head was in sensational form for Australia against India. (Photo by Robert Cianflone/Getty Images) Source: Getty Images Although Head possesses an incredible strike rate, Fox Cricket’s Brad Haddin was most impressed with how the opener patiently out the spinning storm from Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja before exploding to life.
He was five off 24 balls,” Haddin said. “Then he trusted his technique and then he accelerated.” Head himself downplayed his role in Australia’s triumph, insisting it was all about biding his time and taking the chance when it came. “It’s nice to contribute,” Head said in his post-match interview. “Not everything goes your way and it’s never always going to be clear sailing.
“So, nice to stay prepared, the coaching staff and players and the vibe that we’ve created has meant we can get on with the job and make sure when that chance comes I’m ready enough to take it.” Head and the rest of his Australian teammates will now turn their attention to the fourth and final Test of the series against India which begins on March 9.

Why Mitchell Starc is not playing?
‘Love To Play 100 Test Matches’: Australia’s Mitchell Starc Explains Why He Does Not Play IPL Australia’s star pacer Mitchell Starc stated that the reason why he is not taking part in the IPL as he wants to lengthen his Test career play 100 matches for his country.
Starc played a crucial role in the 2015 World Cup where Australia win the title and also in the 2021, Since the WTC Final is set to take place on Wednesday, the left-arm pacer will look to add another ICC event to his name by defeating India at The Oval in London. “To choose not to do certain things to prolong playing for Australia, I’ve tried to be smart about that,” Starc said.
“Yeah, the money’s nice, but I’d love to play 100 Test matches. Whether I get there or not, I don’t know, but that would be a nice one to tick off. Hopefully, there’s a little bit left in me.” The 33-year-old seamer has played 77 Test matches so far for Australia and scalped 306 wickets at an average of 27.52 since making his debut in 2011.
He also took part in 110 ODIs and 58 T20s, picking 219 and 73 wickets respectively. “To play three formats for over 10 years, it’s been a lot of pain along the way, but I’m grateful I’ve gotten that far. Whilst I’ve tried to add to the bow, as soon as I lose airspeed, there’s going to be someone chasing me.” “Once that next left-armer is coming through, yeah, I’m sure I’ll know when I know.” “That (media criticism) might have bothered me a few years ago, but I’ve certainly settled on a happy place where it doesn’t bother me anymore,” said Starc who played only two editions of the IPL for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
