Will there be board exams in 2023 24 for class 10 in assam?

The state education department has taken the decision in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). Board examination will not be conducted for Assam Class 10 from next year. With the announcement of Assam HS Result 2023, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has made another major announcement that Assam HSLC exams will not be conducted from next year.

There will be no board exam for Assam Class 10 students from the academic year 2024. The state government will be setting up a single new Assam educational board. The state education department has taken the decision in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). Board examination will not be conducted for Assam Class 10 from next year.

“Matric exams will be held only at the school level. This is being done as per the New Education Policy. A new board will also come up soon. But the employees employed for SEBA will not lose their job,” the chief minister said. Class 10 exams were conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) and Class 12 board exams were held by Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC).

Will HSLC exam be held in 2023 in Assam?

NEW DELHI: The Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) has cancelled the Assam HSLC exam 2023 for English paper. The examination was conducted on March 03, 2023. The Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu took to his Twitter handle to share an official notice released by SEBA.

As per the notice, the English paper of the Assam Higher Secondary Leaving Certificate has been cancelled after the Board received a report from the district officials about some students of Higher Secondary School, Ganir Gram Kendra have used unfair means to sit for the examination. The notice further mentions that SEBA has received verbal complaints from other examination centres as well and the concerned district authorities have been asked to submit reports regarding the same.

The Board will take strict action against those who have violated or violate the exam rules in the coming days. Looking at this, the Board has therefore urged the candidates, parents, and examination officers to cooperate in the smooth conduct of the upcoming exams without violating the examination rules and regulations.

  1. After the incident, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reportedly summoned the SEBA secretary Naranyaran Nath in this regard.
  2. The minister asked the examination authorities to cancel the Assam HSLC English paper 2023 in all centres where unfair means were reported.
  3. SEBA is expected to announce a fresh date for the Assam HSLC English exam soon.

Instead of a board exam, class 10 students will be assessed by their teachers, including class unit tests, etc.

From now onwards, there will be no such examinations called Matriculation or Matric exams, said Chief Minister Sarma at a press conference. The prime focus of the assessment will be the pass-or-fail system within the school itself. The decision has been taken to ensure that students can easily start their preparation for class 11 and class 12 right after completing class 10 exams, he added.

Till now, there has been no official announcement about the organisation which will be formed by merging the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) and the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA). However, the merger is expected to streamline administrative processes and ensure holistic development of the students at the secondary and higher secondary levels.

GUWAHATI: Scorching summer heat left the northeast sizzling on Saturday, with the Assam government on Saturday deciding to advance the school timing by about two hours to give students some relief. Following a directive from the state school education department, various districts have issued orders asking the schools to advance the timing of commencement of classes from 7.30 am.

Secretary to the department Narayan Konwar, in a message on Saturday, urged the district authorities, directors of elementary and secondary education and district education authorities to advance the school timing to ensure students’ safety and well-being in view of the hot and humid conditions. The authorities concerned have been asked to advance the school timing, so that the students are not exposed to the scorching heat for prolonged hours.

At least five districts of the state, including Kamrup (Metro) that covers Guwahati city areas, have advanced the timings till filing of the report. Karbi Anglong, Morigaon, Nagaon and Bongaigaon districts have also announced revised timings. As per the orders, most districts are going to start the school hours from 7.30 am and conclude by 1.15 pm.

In Guwahati, which recorded over 37 degrees Celsius on Saturday, the revised timings will be applicable for both government and private schools. An order by the Kamrup (Metro) district inspector of schools stated that for lower primary schools, the school timing has been revised from 7.30 am to noon, whereas in Middle English (ME) schools classes will be held between 7.30 am to 12.30 pm.

In high and higher secondary schools, classes will be held from 7.30 am to 1 pm. Further, the city schools here have been instructed to conduct morning assembly inside the classroom or in shaded areas. Guwahati sizzled at a maximum temperature of 37.2 degrees C, 5.4 degrees above normal, on Saturday.

The mercury soared even higher in Agartala, which recorded the highest maximum temperature among the towns and cities in the northeast during the day. Agartala recorded a maximum temperature of 38.2 degrees C on Saturday, 5.6 degrees above normal. Though the IMD has predicted light to moderate rain at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, and light rain is very likely to occur at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on Sunday.

It said day temperature is very likely to be 3 to 6 degrees above normal in the northeastern states. In Guwahati too, the Met office predicted a maximum temperature of 37 degrees C on Sunday.
