How many students fail in UP Board exam?

PRAYAGRAJ: Be it because of the strict measures against malpractices put in place by authorities of Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Siksha Parishad ( UP Board ) or the high number of students failing in Class 9, over six lakh students were found dropped out of Class 10 board exam in 2022-23 academic session, reports Rajiv Mani.

  • This was evident from the registration figures for the UP board high school examination 2023.
  • As per the board’s data, last year, 31,78,305 students had taken admission in Class 9 last year, who had to register for the high school exam this year.
  • Besides, 5,58,900 students either failed or skipped their high school exams of 2022.

With this, the number of high school students for the 2023 edition of the class 10 exam should have been 37,37,205. However, only 31,16,458 students have actually registered for the exam. Thus, 6,20,747 less students have been registered for class 10 exams.

Though students failing in Class 9 can be taken as one of the possible reasons for the mismatch of the figures, board officials claimed that it is not possible for such a large number of students to flunk the examination. Hence, the only other reason can be fake registration for the high school exam of 2022.

But even if a total of 2,61,011 students, who dropped out of the examination are taken as fake, the number of dropouts for 2023 exam still remain much higher. UP Board secretary Divyakant Shukla said strict anti-copying measures introduced over the past few years might be the reason for the large number of “dropouts” before the high school examination.

How many students pass out 12th every year in India?

Students celebrate their success after announcement of 12th class results by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), in New Delhi, Friday, May 12, 2023 Express Photo By Amit Mehra Listen to this article CBSE Board Exam Results 2023: 87% students clear Class 12th exam, 93% pass Class 10th x CBSE Board Class 10, 12 Result 2023: The Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) Class 10 and 12 results, declared Friday, saw performance of students settling at pre-pandemic levels, with the overall pass percentage dipping in both classes, and fewer students scoring above 90 per cent and 95 per cent, respectively.

  1. Class 12 recorded a pass percentage of 87.33 per cent, compared to 92.71 per cent in 2022, when the board examination was bifurcated.
  2. Overall, out of about 16.6 lakh candidates in Class 12, about 14.5 lakh passed, while 20.2 lakh of 21.6 lakh candidates cleared Class 10.
  3. In 2021, when board exams could not be held due to the raging pandemic, results had touched a record high, with both class 12 and class 10 pass percentages breaching the 99 per cent mark as students were assessed based on their scores in previous exams, practical exams and internal assessments.

However, with the return of board examinations in 2022, the performance levels got largely aligned with the results seen before the onset of the pandemic in 2020. And with CBSE restoring the single exam format for the 2022-23 batch of class 10 and 12, the numbers have tempered further.

The overall Class 12 pass percentage of 87.33 is not just lower than 2022 (92.71 per cent) and 2021 (99.37 cent), but 2020 (88.78 per cent) as well. However, it is significantly better than 2019, when the pass percentage was 83.4 per cent. Similarly, in the case of Class 10, the pass percentage of 93.12 is lower than last year’s 94.4 per cent and 2021 (99.04 per cent).

In 2020, the Class 10 pass percentage was 91.46 per cent. The pass percentage of both boys and girls dipped. However, like previous years, girls did better, with their pass percentage in Class 10 standing at 94.25, compared to 92.27 per cent of boys, while in Class 12, girls registered a pass percentage of 90.68, as against 84.67 per cent of boys.

  1. The number of students scoring above 90 per cent and 95 per cent has also declined, both in Class 10 and Class 12.
  2. In Class 12, as many as 22,622 candidates — which translates to 1.36 per cent of those who took the exam — scored 95 per cent and above this year, lower than last year’s 2.33 per cent, 5.37 per cent in 2021, 3.24 per cent in 2020, and 1.47 per cent in 2019.

In 2018, 1.15 per cent students fell in this category. Also, 6.8 per cent students — 112828 in absolute numbers — scored 90 per cent and above in Class 12, compared to 9.39 per cent in 2022, 11.51 per cent in 2021, and 13.24 per cent in 2020. Teachers feel several factors, including a certain degree of restraint exercised by the CBSE, are behind these drops.

“During the Covid years, a lot of relaxations were given by the CBSE and this year no relaxation was given so naturally that made a differenceStudents are coming back to school after almost two years which created a learning gap and secondly, this year I think CBSE also took a stern view. Most of the 100s have come to 99.

I have seen in my own school that we had about 23 instances of 100s last year but this year it has reduced by almost 50 per cent,” said Suruchi Gandhi, Principal, Bal Bharti Public School, New Delhi, A similar trend emerges when this year’s Class 10 results are compared with the pandemic and pre-pandemic years.

For instance, overall, 44,297 Class 10 students — or 2.05 per cent of all candidates — scored 95 per cent and above this year. Last year, 64,908 — or 3.1 per cent of all candidates — scored in the same range. Moreover, 1,95,799 — or 9.04 per cent of all Class 10 candidates — scored 90 per cent and above this year, down from 2,36,993 — or 11.32 per cent of candidates — in 2022.

Modern Public School, New Delhi, principal Alka Kapur said the number of students with a perfect score has declined by 10 per cent at her school as well. “I think, children were not used to eight hours of schooling because they were more on the gadgets and the discipline of the parents and students was also affected.

What is the best time to study for board exams?

If you are a student, studying is part and parcel of your life. It takes patience and practice to establish the best time for you to study. For some people, mornings are better 1 for studying, while for others, evening or night time enables to focus better on their studies.

According to the science of “good timing” – also known as chronobiology 2 – peak performance is hardwired into our DNA. Our biological clock, which is an inner clock embedded inside our brain since young, actually helps us decide when is our perfect timing for studying. Although new discoveries prove that timing may not be everything, it is important if you want to create and perform at your best consistently.

That said, science has indicated that learning is most effective between 10 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 10 pm, when the brain is in an acquisition mode. On the other hand, the least effective learning time is between 4 am and 7 am. While there is really no one best time of the day to study, let’s take a look at the benefits of studying in the morning versus the other times of the day.

  1. Studying i n the Morning Most people would think that morning is the best time to study, as our brains tend to be the sharpest in the morning after a refreshing night’s sleep and breakfast.
  2. The natural light available is also good for your eyes and keep you alert.
  3. This period is great for opening a textbook to learn a new theory, or just reviewing your lecturer’s notes from the previous day because mornings generally give you a better recollection ability.

Studying i n the Afternoon In the afternoon, students’ brains are good at integrating new information with what they already know. During this time of day, students are able to create connections and make the information they have learned more meaningful.

Mornings and afternoons are better for studying also because if you get stuck midway through your study, you can always call your peers or teachers to clarify quickly, as it is the time when people are most active, or even visit the library for more information. Studying a t Night For some students, they have more energy later in the day.

Hence, the evening or night time is a more effective time for them to read and study. Studying at this time also helps to improve your concentration and creativity as there are fewer distractions, and with everyone in bed, there is definitely peace and quiet.

  • Sleeping after studying is also said to consolidate information and improve recall.
  • One thing to note though, do make sure you are still getting an average of 8 to 9 hours of sleep nightly.
  • Interestingly, some research has suggested that studying at your most tired time can help your brain retain higher concentrations of new skills, such as speaking a foreign language,

This apparently even has a name to it: sleep-learning 3, Because during slow-wave sleep, the memory-consolidation process does its best work and your brain could be receiving the restoration and reactivation that it needs during its time of rest. This means that studying before bedtime can help your brain learn new things, even in your sleep.

  1. How to find your best time to study? That said, different timings work for different students and you can find your best time of the day to study if you consider the following factors 4,
  2. Firstly, when are you most alert? Think about that, but different qualities of memories and alertness seem to be better at different times of the day for different people.

For example, you can have a better visual memory in the morning, but your critical thinking ability peaks in the afternoon. Secondly, if your optimal time is prone to distractions, such as dinner time, which might disrupt your routine, It is best to find another timing.

  1. Lastly, make sure you select a time that you can stick to consistently, at least for a few days every week because consistency helps ensure you study daily and improves the quality of your study time.
  2. Just like each student has a unique learning style, different students may learn better at different times of the day.

But if you study at the same time every day, you will condition your mind and body gradually and soon, you will be in your best frame of mind for study. Once you know what works best for yourself, you can start your studying routine more effectively and efficiently.
